(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford men were arrested after police say they fled in a vehicle Sunday morning.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, an off-duty officer spotted a speeding vehicle at 10:25 a.m. at Fifth Street and Ind. 37 with no license plates.
The officer called dispatch and followed the vehicle to the Dollar General Store on X Street.
Once the police vehicle pulled into the lot the driver of the Oldsmobile took off.
The pursuit continued east on Seventh Street to N and then on R Street where the driver disregarded the stop sign and speed across 5th Street. The pursuit continued until the vehicle went in behind a home in the 100 block of R Street. There officers apprehended the driver and passenger.
Officers arrested the driver, 26-year-old Wesley Jackson of Bedford, on charges of possession of marijuana, resisting arrest by fleeing and driving while his driver's license was suspended. He was also cited for having no license plate.
His passenger, 20 year-old Dustin Jackson of Bedford, was arrested on a charge of illegal consumption.
Police found a cigarette container in the vehicle that contained a green-leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana and several empty alcoholic beverage bottles.
When asked why the fled the men told police that "they were having too much fun."
