(CAMPBELLSBURG) - A Bedford man suffered serious injuries after a head-on collision on State Road 60 Sunday morning.
According to Washington County Sheriff Roger Newlon, the accident happened on Ind. 60 West, just east of Campbellsburg at 1:52 a.m.
Both vehicles were destroyed and it took crews more than an hour to free 48-year-old Pouya Rezvani of Bedford from the wreckage.
Police say Rezvani was traveling east in a 2001 Volvo when 22-year-old Chelsey Hicks of Springville was westbound in a 2016 Chevy Cruze and crossed the centerline and crashed into Rezvani's car.
Both drivers were flown from the scene by air ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital.
Newlon did not know the extent of Hicks' injuries, but did say they did not appear life-threatening.
Rezvani was critically injured during the incident.
Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionist Travis Baker was called to the scene to reconstruct the accident due to its severity.
The investigation is ongoing.
