(MITCHELL) - A Campbellsburg man was injured after he crashed his pickup on Ind. 60 near Lawrenceport Road Tuesday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 56-year-old Jeff Jenkins was traveling east on Ind. 60 East near Lawrenceport Road when his 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup cut across the westbound lane, ran off the roadway and down an embankment into a tree line.
A witness told police they stopped and helped Jenkins get out of the vehicle because they thought the vehicle was on fire, but according to police it was steam being released from the vehicle.
Jenkins suffered an abrasion to his elbow and lower arm and was taken by a Seals ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
Jenkins told police he was suffering from high-blood sugar and may have fallen asleep while driving.
Assisting at the scene was Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Mitchell Police Department.
