(IRELAND) - A driver who fell asleep behind the wheel early Monday morning crashed into a home near Ireland.
According to a police report, 29-year-old Bond Weissmann of Washington was traveling eastbound on State Road 56 near County Road 600 West around 5a.m. when he fell asleep. His 2010 Toyota Prius crossed the centerline, ran off the north side of the highway, struck a mailbox and continued through a yard before colliding with a house in the 6100 block of State Road 56.
Weissmann was able to safely exited the vehicle. He declined to be transported by an ambulance for treatment.
No one in the home was injured, according to authorities.
Total damage to the property and to Weissmann's car was estimated at $30,000.
