(MONTGOMERY) - A farming accident claimed the life of a rural Daviess County man on Friday morning.
According to a Daviess County Sheriff's Department reports, officers and emergency crews were called to the accident scene around 11 a.m. Thursday in the 7020 block of East County Road 500 North, north of Montgomery, just east of County Road 650 East.
Police say 41-year-old Andrew "Andy" Graber, who is an Amish minister, was operating a bean drill with a team of horses in a field near his home when the bean drill ran over him.
Daviess County Chief Deputy Gary Allison says there were no witnesses to the accident and deputies are not certain how the accident happened.
"Someone found him in the field and reported it," he added.
Graber was flown to Deaconess Gateway Hospital for treatment. He died there late Friday afternoon as a result of his injuries. He leaves behind a wife, four daughters and two sons.
The death is the first accidental farm death reported in the county this year.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office and the Daviess County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
