(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after he allegedly threw items at a pregnant woman, injuring her.
21-year-old Cody Powell was arrested on warrants for battering on a pregnant woman resulting in bodily injury, failure to appear in court and petition to revoke.
According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, on March 21, Lawrence County Police received a call from the woman that her boyfriend had injured her. The woman, who was 26 weeks pregnant, told police Powell had been drinking and got angry. He allegedly threw a purse at her, then a large buckle which struck her in the head. He then threw a phone charger at her, busting her lip. Powell then began breaking things both inside and outside of the home.
A witness to the incidents confirmed the woman's story to police.
The woman told police that during the argument Powell threatened to cut her unborn son from her stomach.
