(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly injured a person at 60’s Eastside gas station.
Police arrested 34-year-old Paula D. Ely on a warrant for battery resulting in bodily injury and strangulation.
According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, on May 28, Mitchell Police Department received a panic alarm at 60's Eastside. Shortly after, a clerk from the gas station reported two women were involved in a fight.
When officers arrived, a woman claimed Ely put her in a headlock while she was standing in the checkout line. Ely began screaming profanities at her while she was being choked, then Ely pushed her to the floor.
The victim complained of trouble breathing from being choked and pain to her neck and back. She also suffered scratches to her arms and a wrist.
Police reviewed video footage from a security camera at the store, that video showed Ely putting the woman in a headlock and trying to push her onto the floor.
