(NASHVILLE) - The palm tree that has stood outside the former Muddy Boots building on Van Buren Street in Nashville since 2011 is being relocated.
The Brown County Democrat reports that local artist Jim Conner, who originally erected the tree in September 2011, expects to reconstruct the artwork at the new Muddy Boots location in Salt Creek Plaza.
The original artwork was something of a "guerrilla" installation, Conner said. He installed it overnight in 2011, and the sudden appearance caused a bit of stir in Nashville.
The tree, which is constructed primarily of rebar and metal sheeting, was bolted to an old stump that the Indiana Department of Transportation had declined to remove, Conner said. Looking at the stump, Conner decided that a tree sculpture was what made the most sense.
