(BROWNSTOWN) - A Jackson County woman was flown to an Indianapolis hospital early Saturday morning after she was involved in a one-vehicle crash east of Brownstown.
According to a Jackson County Police report, Heather Howard of Norman had to be cut from the 2012 Chevrolet passenger car she was driving when the wreck occurred in the 2200 block of East U.S. 50.
When police arrived they found Howard pinned to the roof of her vehicle, which was wrapped around a tree in a yard on the east side of U.S. 50.
Brownstown firefighters used the jaws of life to cut the driver's side of the vehicle open to get Howard out of the vehicle.
Police say Howard was traveling west on U.S. 50 when her car crossed the centerline, hit a utility pole, flipped onto the driver's side, went through a yard and hit the tree.
She was treated at the scene by personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and then flown from the scene by StatFlight to a hospital in Indianapolis.
The cause of the wreck, reported at 2:17 a.m. Saturday, remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Seymour Police officers and two Jackson County reserve police officer.
