(MITCHELL) - A phone charger is being investigated as a possible cause for the fire that killed one person at a home on West Brook Street in Mitchell early morning hours of June 11, according to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
27-year-old Jarrod Randolph died in the fire. His wife and children escaped.
IDHS investigators say they have determined the fire originated in the southeast corner of the living room, where there was a phone and charger that could not be ruled out as the cause of the fire.
Officials still have not figured out is why Randolph did not wake up, according to Mitchell Assistant Fire Chief Fred Cassidy.
