(BEDFORD) - The public is invited to a reception honoring Captain Donna Rose and Jack Voigtschild of the Salvation Army.
The reception will be held Tuesday, June 7th from 4 p.m. till 6 p.m. at the Bedford Chamber Conference Room Located at 1116 16th Street in Bedford .
Light refreshments will be served.
Lawrence County's Salvation Army is losing its officer and is in transition to become a service unit staffed by a non-officer.
Capt. Donna Rose, commanding officer for the Salvation Army in Bedford since 2010, is taking a new appointment in Granite City, Ill.
Rose will leave for her new post June 28.
Voigtschild has been a Salvation Army volunteer since 1972 dedicating 44 years of service. During that time, he served as chairman of the advisory board, bell ringer and assisted at accidents, fires ad weather events within the county.
The reorganized unit of the Salvation Army will provide for emergency needs such as food, clothing, emergency lodging, rent or utility assistance. There will no longer be worship services offered in Bedford, but will continue to offer Christmas aid to families in need, continue the Red Kettle campaign and remain a United Way agency.
