(BEDFORD) - A 7-year-old was injured after being kicked by a horse at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds this morning.
"Dispatched received a 911 call at 8:20 a.m. from someone at the horse arena requesting an ambulance for a 7-year-old boy who had been kicked in the chest by a horse," says Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham.
An officer from the Sheriff's Department was the first on the scene, followed soon by Seals Ambulance.
"An air ambulance was started per dispatch protocols, and EMS on scene asked that the air ambulance continue to the IU Health helipad at the request of the family."
The child was conscious and alert and was transported to IU Health Hospital Emergency Department.
