(BEDFORD) - Bedford Clerk-Treasurer Julie Blackwell Chase resigned effective Friday.
Her resignation ends a 24-year career in local government in Lawrence County. She was elected Bedford clerk-treasurer in 2008. She was in the first year of her third term serving under Mayor Shawna Girgis.
She began her career in public office in 1992 when she was elected Lawrence County recorder, serving two terms, then Lawrence County clerk from 2001-2008.
The Lawrence County Republican Party will have a caucus at 6 p.m. July 28 to select a successor at the Lawrence County Republican Headquarters, at 1620 O St.
Marsha Pfeiffer, deputy clerk-treasurer for the city, intends to seek the job.
