(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Monday night after a domestic fight at 51 Oak Hill West.
Lawrence County Police were called to the home at 5:48 p.m.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, two officers arrived on the scene and spoke to a 39-year-old woman and three witnesses in addition to 51-year-old Anthony Stancombe.
"Witness statements were consistent with what the victim told officers," Sheriff Branham says. "Officers determined Mr. Stancombe was the aggressor in the incident based on witness accounts and physical evidence."
Sheriff Branham says Stancombe did suffer minor scrapes on his neck and swelling around one eye. The woman suffered a bloody nose and red marks around her neck that are consistent with choking.
"All of this occurred in the presence of the couple's three year old granddaughter," Sheriff Branham added.
Stancombe was arrested on initial charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation.
