(BEDFORD) - North Lawrence Community Schools Maintenance Director Steve Ritter says construction and maintenance project are on schedule for the return of students on August 11.
The Bedford Middle School gym air-conditioning project should be operational within the next week or so.
The BNL track has been re-engineered and resurfaced, and striping will be done when the surface has cured.
The Parkview traffic pattern is being changed. Paving will take place this week. Then, painting and striping will need to be done and some new signage may be needed. Ritter says once people get used to the change it should be much better for both parents and students.
The concrete work at BNL is progressing. The pool has been drained, the impeller and motor repaired and filter media is being changed.
Ritter purchased two new vans and is in the process of ordering two new 3/4-ton Dodge pickups. He should have a little bit of money left from the $100,000 the board put aside for the vehicles.
Darren Waggoner, transportation director, says the corporation bus inspection will take place after school has started, but that all buses are ready to pick up students on the first day of school and all corporation bus routes have been set.
