(BLOOMINGTON) - A fire Thursday night destroyed a home at 9026 S. Ind. 446.
No one was living in the home.
Bloomington Fire Department was alerted to the blaze at 10:43 p.m. The fire was reported by a passerby and a neighbor who reported hearing an explosion.
According to Bloomington Fire Department St. Brandon Hudson, when firefighters arrived flames were shooting 15 feet into the air from the roof area.
Crews were unable to gain entry to the home to battle the blaze from inside because of a LP tank nearby.
Hudson says Perry-Clear Creek Department and the Pleasant Run Fire Department from Lawrence County were called for tanker support and additional manpower.
Firefighters were on the scene until 3:34 a.m. but some firefighters remain to monitor numerous hot spots.
The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation.
