Fun Summer Activities At The Hoosier National Forest

(BEDFORD) - The Hoosier National Forest has several programs scheduled to learn more about nature and get outdoors over the summer months.
Several extra programs are planned at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area and Brooks Cabin. Both sites are located just off SR 446 in Monroe County.
List of Events:
- Saturday, August 6, 3:00 pm ET - Smokey Bear will be celebrating his birthday party in the picnic shelter by the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater. Join us for the celebration and meet the old Bear himself!
- At 9:00 pm - Watch the movie "Penguins of Madagascar" at the amphitheater.
- Saturday, August 13, 10 am - Morning Hike on the Ted T. Turtle Trail (1.2 miles).
- At 9:00 pm - Have popcorn and view the movie "Beauty and the Beast" at the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater.
- Saturday, August 20, 10 am - 4 pm - Living history interpretation at Brooks Cabin.
- Sunday, August 21, 10 am - 3 pm - Dutch Oven Cooking demonstrations and Leave No Trace ethics will be taught at the Brooks Cabin by Yvette Rollins from the Hoosier Backcountry Horsemen. She'll have samples and teach how to limit your impacts on the land.
- Friday, August 26, 9:00 pm - Have popcorn and view the movie "Ice Age: the Meltdown" at the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater.
- Friday, August 27, 3:30 pm - Make a wooden key chain in the picnic shelter by the amphitheater at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area.
All events are free, although a gate fee of $5/vehicle will be charged at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. Brooks Cabin is free.
