(MITCHELL) - Tickets for Hoosier Hometown Live - a live radio variety show filled with real-life characters, hometown historical fiction and live music - go on sale at 9 a.m. today.
Organizers expect the show to sell out quickly.
The show will be performed in front of a live audience at the historic Mitchell Opera House at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12.
The show is produced by the Mitchell Community Public Library in cooperation with Hoosier Uplands, 1340 AM WBIW and Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK and the Mitchell Opera House.
The two radio stations will broadcast the show live to radio listeners.
"The goal is to get people to tune in on the radio and listen to the show with their family," says radio station manager Holly Davis. "We want have families come together and participate at home along with the cast. It is a guaranteed good time for all."
Mark Bryant joins Gary Spear as a host for the show, which features Larry Hollan at the piano, who accompanies the voice antics of Cassie Corp, Imogene Dedrick and Tom Bostic, while Matthew Canada, Steve Corp and Austin Malone provide sound effects and vocals. The Lick Creek Band brings a wide variety of musical selections, and Tim and Susan Key add their talent to the featured songs. Amy and Hannah Breeding share heartfelt, gospel songs, and Jon Carl Isom, the singing barber, joins in with music and tales from Main Street. Stage management is by Curt and Beth Parsley. Special guest appearances also are in the works.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the library or online at www.mitchelloperahouse.com.
The cast which is all volunteers will use the funds to support children's programs at the library.
