Hoosier National Forest Hosts Educational Events

(BEDFORD) - The Hoosier National Forest has a full schedule of opportunities to learn more about nature and get outdoors over the summer months.
Several extra programs are planned at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area and Brooks Cabin.
- Friday, July 8, 9 p.m. - Watch the movie "Ice Age" with popcorn, at the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater.
- Saturday, July 9, 4:30 pm - Outdoor crafts at the amphitheater picnic shelter.
- At 9 p.m. - Watch the movie "Ice Age, The Meltdown" at the amphitheater.
- Saturday, July 16, 4:30 pm - Outdoor crafts at the amphitheater picnic shelter.
- At 9 p.m. - Have popcorn and view the movie "Beauty and the Beast" at the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater.
- Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Living history interpretation at Brooks Cabin.
- Saturday, July 16, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. CT- The Rickenbaugh House in Perry County will be open for tours of the house and information on the Rickenbaugh family.
- The Rickenbaugh House is located in the Indian-Celina Recreation Area in Perry County. Entrance to the house is free, although a gate fee to the recreation area of $5/vehicle is charged. Those who visit Tipsaw Recreation Area that day can also visit Indiana-Celina at no additional charge.
- Sunday, July 17, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Dutch Oven Cooking demonstrations and Leave No Trace ethics will be taught at the Brooks Cabin by Yvette Rollins from the Hoosier Backcountry Horsemen. She'll have samples and teach how to limit your impacts on the land.
- Friday, July 23, 4:30 p.m. - Outdoor crafts are offered in the picnic shelter by the amphitheater at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area.
- At 9 p.m. - Have popcorn and view the movie "Frozen" at the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater.
- Saturday, July 23, 10 am - 4 pm - Living history interpretation at Brooks Cabin.
- Friday, July 30, 4:30 pm - Outdoor crafts are offered in the picnic shelter by the amphitheater at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area.
- At 9 p.m.- Have popcorn and view the movie "The Little Mermaid" at the Hardin Ridge Amphitheater.
- Hardin Ridge Recreation Area and the Brooks Cabin are both located just off SR 446 in Monroe County.
All events are free, although a gate fee of $5/vehicle will be charged at the recreation areas. Brooks Cabin is free.
