(HUNTINGBURG) - A 15-year-old Huntingburg juvenile was arrested in the shooting death of 16-year-old Matthew W. Kendall.
According to police, officers were called to 202 North Main Street at 11:34 p.m. Friday, after a report of a male with a gunshot wound at 11:34 p.m. When they arrived, they found Kendal had suffered a gunshot wound to his head.
The Huntingburg Fire Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services rendered immediate medical attention, however, Kendal died at the scene.
Indiana State Police crime scene technician was requested to the scene.
According to Huntingburg Police, Kendall was visiting a friend at the home when the 15-year-old friend accidentally discharged a Glock 9 mm which had been recently reported stolen from a vehicle in the area.
Police arrested the 15-year-old juvenile on a Level 5 felony count of reckless homicide and Class A misdemeanor theft charge. The juvenile is being housed in a juvenile detention center.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing and no names will be released until all notifications have been made.
Indiana State Police, Dubois County Sheriff's Department, Huntingburg Fire Department and Memorial EMS assisted at the scene.
