(HINDUSTAN) - An Indianapolis man was killed Saturday night in an accident near Crossover Road on State Road 37 north of Bloomington.
The accident happened just before 10 p.m.
According to an Indiana State Police report, for reasons still unknown, a northbound 1965 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 33-year-old Joseph T. Birtchman of Indianapolis crossed the median and continued into the southbound lanes, striking an oncoming mini van.
The southbound vehicle, a 2005 Chrysler mini van driven by Victoria E. Wielosinski of Bloomington, was unable to avoid collision with the pickup truck.
Wielosinski suffered what was described as non-life threatening injuries and was transported to IU Health Bloomington.
Birtchman was transported by ambulance to IU Health, where he was later pronounced dead.
