(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University’s Bloomington campus was put on alert early Friday morning after an armed robbery was reported near campus.
The robbery victim reported the crime to IU Police just after 4:30 a.m. The victim reported that the armed robbery occurred in an alley in the 100 block of S. Dunn Street.
He told police a man approached him and after a brief conversation, pushed him to the ground and placed a metal object against the back of his head. The victim told police he did not see what the object way, but he believed it was a firearm.
The man stole cash and a cell phone from the victim before fleeing the area. The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident.
The suspect was described as a black male in his early twenties and was wearing jeans and a dark colored t-shirt.
University police searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
Police continue to investigate armed robbery, but say there is no imminent threat. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact police.
