(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction after a two vehicle accident on U.S. 50 West, Thursday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 58-year-old Richard Abel of Shoals was traveling was traveling west on U.S. 50 West near Poplar Lane when the next thing he knew he was involved in an accident.
The girlfriend of 51-year-old David Pridemore, who was not in Pridemore's vehicle, told police Pridemore was traveling east on U.S.50 West when Abel's 2009 Pontiac hydroplaned and crossed the center line colliding with Pridemore's 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck.
Pridemore suffered bleeding to his face, arms and hands from shattered glass. Able complained of pain. Both drivers refused medical treatment following the incident.
Police did transport Pridemore to a local hospital for a blood test and he was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated child endangerment and with a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction.
