(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell woman was arrested early this morning after a Lawrence County Police officer stopped her for a traffic violation.
Police arrested 39-year-old Raelyne D. Steenhoek on charges of possession of legend drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and cited for driving while her driver's license was suspended.
According to Lawrence County Major Gregg Taylor, the officer was traveling southbound on Ind. 7 just north of Mitchell and stopped Steenhoek on a traffic and equipment violation on Ind. 60.
Police say Steenhoek, who was driving, appeared nervous.
"The officer then determined that her driver's license was suspended," Taylor says. "While speaking with her, officers noticed a white pill lying on the floorboard of the car."
A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a pill bottle containing several types of pills and found about 16 grams of marijuana and a glass smoking device in her purse.
