(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are investigating a Monday night house fire on the city’s southeast side as a break-in and arson.
Firefighters were called to the house fire at 3115 E. Kensington Park Drive at 11:30 p.m. When they arrived they found the main floor of the home was engulfed in flames and thick black smoke was pouring out of the building.
Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams says investigators found evidence that someone entered the home and intentionally set the fire. He added this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
The owners of the home were out of town at the time of the blaze.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the break-in or arson is asked to call Bloomington Police.
