(MARTINSVILLE) - A Morgan County inmate jailed for a probation violation has escaped.
Police are searching for 31-year-old James R. Baker. He was last seen around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.
He is one of four inmates who work overnight at a Mooresville business. They got off work around 3 a.m. One of the inmates drove all four back to the facility to check back in, but Baker never did so.
Police sent a K-9 to try and locate him. Police say he left the jail on foot wearing a green baseball cap, blue jeans and a blue shirt.
Police are checking with Baker's family and friends, and are trying to get access to nearby security footage.
Baker was serving time for a probation violation, but has previous arrests for battery and residential entry. The Morgan County Sheriff said he should not be considered dangerous.
Anybody with any information should call the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at (765) 342-5544.
