(CARLISLE) - A correctional officer at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle was hospitalized Monday morning following an assault by a prison inmate.
43-year-old Benjamin Scott of Greene County was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with facial fractures and related injuries.
Scott is an eight year veteran at the maximum security facility at Carlisle.
The motive for the attack is unknown at this time.
The inmate, 30-year-old Glen Young is refusing to cooperate with investigators and has been placed in a restricted status housing unit.
Young is serving a six year sentence out of Lake County for a felony conviction of possession of a firearm and had been set for release in February of next year.
