(SALEM) - There will be a mandatory preseason Parks and Recreation Youth Football coaches meeting Thursday, July 21, at 7 p.m. in Salem City Hall.
Coaching candidates must have an application on file, approved by the Park Board, and be 2016 Level 1 online certified through USA Heads-Up Football in order to coach.
USA Football's Heads Up program stresses the following criteria:
1. Level 1 online coaching certification for all Youth Foot- ball coaches.
2. Proper equipment fitting.
3. Concussion recognition and response.
4. Heat preparedness and hydration.
5. Sudden cardiac arrest plan and procedure.
6. Heads-Up tackling.
7. Heads-Up blocking.
8. A Player Safety Coach in place.
The Salem Parks and Rec. Youth Football Organization has been a USA Football/Heads-Up participant since 2014.
