(MITCHELL) - Three people were injured, with one being flown from the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Ind. 37 at Art Gallery Road Tuesday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 16-year-old Robert Fleetwood was traveling east on Art Gallery Road and crossing the median when the Chevrolet Blazer he was driving crashed into a northbound car driven by 71-year-old Trudy Dunaway Brown.
Fleetwood told police he didn't see the oncoming car when he crossed the median. A witness at the scene told police Fleetwood was traveling at a high-rate of speed when crossing the median. Fleetwood was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Fleetwood was not injured. His passengers, 14-year-old Christina Lessig complained of back pain and 17-year-old Dylan Allman complained of head pain. They were both taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Brown suffered internal injuries and was flown from the scene to a hospital for treatment.
Assisting at the scene were officers from both Bedford and Mitchell police departments, a Seals and IU Health Hospital ambulance crews and Marion Volunteer Fire Department.
