(DAVIESS CO.) - Truck drivers who violate a new ordinance in Daviess County could face a $100 fine.
Since the opening of I-69, truck drivers trying to save time and 3/10 of a mile travel have been taking Daviess County Road 550 East as a short cut between State Road 57 and State Road 58 and the I-69 interchange. That road is not designed for heavy traffic and has caused damage to the road's surface.
The Daviess County Commissioners this week passed an ordinance placing "No Thru Trucks" signs on county roads 550 East between 1440 North and 1500 North.
Truck drivers that violate the ordinance will be issued a $100 fine.
Farmers and businesses along 550 East will still be able to use the road.
