(MITCHELL) - Two people were injured after the vehicle they were in flipped on Yockey Road Tuesday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 18-year-old Branden Gaw of Mitchell was traveling east on Yockey Road when a red truck approached his vehicle from the opposite direction and crossed the center line.
Gaw swerved to the right to miss the oncoming vehicle, overcorrected to the left and crossed the center line, running his 2001 Pontiac Sedan off the north side of the road striking a tree head-on causing the Sedan to flip on its top.
His passengers, Dalson Terrell and 17-year-old Keygan Matheny, both of Mitchell, were able to get out of the vehicle.
Gaw was trapped inside and was freed by Bedford Fire Department firefighters.
Gaw suffered fractures to his ankles and elbows and was then flown by Air Evac helicopter to Exkenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Keygan Matheny complained of stomach pain and was taken by a Seals ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
Terrell was not injured.
Assisting at the scene was the Marion Volunteer Fire Department.
