(BEDFORD) - Two men were injured after the vehicle they were in crashed into an utility pole on SandPit Road Wednesday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, the accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. near County Complex Road.
According to police, 61-year-old Delena Hendrickson of Heltonville was traveling south on SandPit Road and admitted to police she had crossed the centerline. She told police when she saw the Kia Spectra coming towards her she got back into her lane, but after passing the vehicle she heard a loud crash and discovered that the Kia had crashed into the utility pole.
The other motorist, 22-year-old Nicholas Kaufman of Bedford, says he was traveling north on SandPit Road and was coming down the hill when he noticed a Lincoln Navigator in his lane. Kaufman says he swerved to miss the oncoming car, left the roadway and struck the utility pole. Police say there were skid marks on Kaufman's side of the road.
Kaufman suffered a possible fractured elbow or lower arm. His passenger 18-year-old William Taylor, of Bedford, complained of arm and elbow pain.
