(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested after she broke into a home Wednesday afternoon.
According to Bedford Assistant Police Chief Joe DeWees, officers were called to the home in the 200 block of Oolitic Road after a report of a burglary in progress.
"When officers arrived they found a white Mercury in the drive and the back door of the home open," DeWees added. "They announced they were entering the home and found the woman sitting in the dining room."
That woman was 35-year-old Natalie Shiflet.
When asked why she was in the home, she told police she was there to help clean.
Officers contacted the homeowner that reported Shiflet did not have permission to be in the home.
"Officers then searched her purse and found more than 1,000 pills that she did not have a prescription for and a bottle of medication that had the homeowner's name on it," DeWees added.
Shiflet was arrested on charges of burglary, residential entry, possession of a legend drug, possession of a Scheduled II controlled substance.
