(MITCHELL) - Volunteers with Bertha’s Mission and First Church of God in Mitchell are hosting a special lunch Friday to celebrate the second anniversary of serving free meals.
Lunch will be served from noon to 3 p.m. at the church.
The theme is Southwest Fiesta and will include an ice cream sundae bar.
In two years, community kitchen volunteers have prepared and served 25,000 meals at the First Church of God. Meals are served on Mondays and Fridays at the Church on North 12th Street.
In addition, the church is a site for food delivery by a mobile food pantry. The mobile food pantry visits the fourth Thursday of the month and serves about 225 families who are experiencing food insecurity.
