(BLOOMFIELD) - A Bloomfield man was arrested on a warrant after police say he was driving while intoxicated and crashed his vehicle injuring his passenger.
Bloomfield Police arrested 20-year-old Wyatt Campbell on charges of causing serious injuy while operating a vehicle while intoxicated, unlawful possession of a legend drug and reckless driving at an unreasonable speed.
According to police the incident happened the night of July 19, when officers were called to the 2460 block of East Kelly Branch Road after a report of an accident. When police arrived, a tractor was attempting to remove the vehicle from the side of the road.
Campbell told police he was driving when the vehicle was run off the side of the road by a logging truck, but police found no tire tracks from a logging truck. Officers determined Campbell's 2000 Ford Explorer entered the corner too fast and crashed into the ditch.
Campbell then told police he was coming down his drive and the brakes gave out and he was on his way to a friend's house to fix them when he crashed into tree, drove back onto the roadway and then crashed a second time in the ditch.
The officer then determined Campbell was intoxicated by drugs or alcohol. Campbell failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a chemical blood test.
While searching Campbell, police found a pill in his pocket that he did not have a prescription for. He was arrested and taken to jail.
A passenger who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, had went to a nearby home for help. That passenger, Clint Aaron, who hit his head on the windshield and knocked out for a few minutes, was checked by Greene County Ambulance Service and then transported to Greene County General Hospital to be checked out.
