(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested Monday night after police were called to a domestic fight at an apartment at 703 W. Gourley Pike.
According to Bloomington police, officers were called to the apartment twice in less than 90 minutes.
When police arrived the first time, 23-year-old Martez Bess and a woman had been arguing and during that fight there was damage done to a banister and door. The woman left the apartment before police arrived. When officers talked to her she refused to file charges, but wanted Bess removed from the apartment and not to return.
Officers were called back within 15 minutes to find Bess yelling at the apartment door, which now had been kicked in. A neighbor attempted to intervene and was pushed by Bess.
Officers ordered Bess into the parking lot of the apartment complex. Instead of complying, Bess took off his shirt and went inside the apartment.
Police tried to get Bess out of the apartment, Bess began punching officers and threatened to kill them. One officer was pushed in the arm and struck on the forehead. Officer Kiley Jarrett was treated at a local hospital after getting punched in the eye.
Bess was arrested on charges of domestic battery, criminal mischief, battery on a police officer, intimidation and resisting law enforcement.
