(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police continue to investigate the shooting death of a 26-year-old woman.
Police were called to a home in the 2300 block of South Rogers Street at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, after a report a woman had been shot.
When police arrived they found Brittany Sater had suffered a gunshot to the chest. She was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital in critical condition. She died at 9:56 a.m.
BPD Capt. Steven Kellams says investigators have been working around the clock to determine what happened and who was involved.
Sater was able to tell emergency crews while being transported to the hospital that two people, a male and female who she knew, had entered her home and shot her with a shotgun.
Kellams says police believe the incident started over drugs and that those involved are no longer in the Bloomington area.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Bloomington Police Department at (812) 339-4477.
