(AVOCA) - Fifteen firefighters from two departments were able to extinguish a fire in an Avoca home in less than 15 minutes.
Firefighters from Indian Creek and Oolitic Volunteer Fire Departments were called to a vacant home in the 2200 block of Avoca-Eureka Road at 8:19 p.m. on Friday.
Indian Creek VFD Chief Monty Wright says firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one bedroom in the older two-story residence, but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
Wright says no one was living in the home, but the owners still had furniture and clothing stored inside.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
An IU Health Hospital ambulance assisted at the scene.
