(BEDFORD) - Today is the first day of school for student in the North Lawence Community School system.
Bedford Police and the Lawrence County Police Departments want to remind motorists to watch for children walking to and from school and for those waiting on school buses and buses stopping to pickup or drop off students.
Motorists need to pay extra attention while in driving through school zones.
The Bedford Police Department employee crossing guards at 16th and O streets and 16th and Brian Lane Way. Those intersections have heavy vehicle traffic before and after school, and motorists are asked to use extra caution in those areas.
