Indiana Sets 2 Open Houses For I-69 Land Purchases

Last updated on Friday, August 12, 2016

(UNDATED) - The state of Indiana plans two open houses next week for homeowners who might have to sell because of the Intestate 69 extension.

The Indianapolis Department of Transportation says the first meeting will be Monday at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis. The second will be Tuesday at Martinsville High School. Both open houses will begin at 5 p.m. and last three hours.

INDOT says it scheduled the meetings in response to questions from the public about the process since it selected Indiana 37 as the route for the final section of the extension between Indianapolis and Evansville. Agency officials will be available to discuss the process of buying property and relocating homeowners and businesses.

The state estimates it may need to buy up to 279 homes and 96 businesses.
