(BEDFORD) - Marsha Pfeiffer was elected clerk-treasurer for the city of Bedford during a Republican Party caucus Thursday night at party headquarters.
Pfeiffer replaces Julie Blackwell Chase, who resigned from office two weeks ago.
Chase was in the first year of her third term, so Pfeiffer will serve the remaining 3.5 years.
Pfeiffer was elected on the first ballot. She was one of three candidates seeking to replace Chase. The others were Rick Butterfield, a business owner who previously ran for mayor, and Christina Hooten, who works at NSWC Crane in human resources.
Pfeiffer, 57, has been deputy clerk-treasurer since November 2015 and was named interim clerk upon Chase's resignation. Previously, she was a bookkeeper in the Lawrence County auditor's office and worked in the county clerk's office. Her other experience includes 13 years at Hoosier Hills Credit Union.
