(MITCHELL) - An Orleans man was injured after he told police a raccoon or opossum ran out in front of his motorcycle Sunday afternoon.
According to a Lawrence County police report, 49-year-old Daniel Blackman suffered minor bleeding to his face but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police say Blackman was traveling on VFW Road near South Meridian Road on his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle when he says the animal darted into the road in front of his motorcycle. Blackman lost control of the bike and wrecked on the roadway.
Police say Blackman had been drinking at the time of the accident. His blood-alcohol level tested at .16 percent on a portable breathalyzer. He was taken to a local hospital for a blood-alcohol test and those results are pending.
