(BLOOMINGTON) - Again this month, Bloomington residents will have an opportunity to interact with Mayor John Hamilton and City of Bloomington department leaders outside of regular business hours.
All are invited to attend events scheduled throughout the month to discuss concerns, current projects and future initiatives and to learn more about the City. These events are part of Mayor Hamilton's ongoing Town Hall Meeting series that began in January.
Planning Director Christy Langley and the staff from the Planning Department will host a town hall meeting at Monroe County Public Library today, in Room 1B from 6 to 8 p.m. to discuss the Comprehensive Master Plan. This is one of a series of opportunities for residents to ask questions and provide input as part of the evolution of the CMP. The CMP is the guiding document for City planning and development. To review the plan, it is available on the City's website: bloomington.in.gov. Comments are encouraged and may be submitted to planning@bloomington.in.gov or shared at one of the upcoming meetings.
Mayor Hamilton will host "Mayor at the Market" on Saturday, August 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. during the Farmer's Market. Join the mayor just outside City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, under the awning or in the shade to the north of the main entrance to the building, depending on weather conditions.
The following Saturday, Corporation Council Philippa Guthrie will be at the Market from 8:30 to 10 a.m., also in front of City Hall. Ms. Guthrie will be ready to describe the activities of the City's legal department and answer questions about enforcement of the City Municipal Code.
Wondering about how to get a job with the City of Bloomington? For those interested in learning more about the Human Resources Department at the City, HR Director Caroline Shaw will be at the Market on August 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Ms. Shaw will answer questions related to employment opportunities with the City.
From 10 to 11:30 a.m. on August 27, residents can visit with Housing and Neighborhood Development Director Doris Sims and staff. They'll be sharing information about demolition delays, historic preservation and rental inspections, along with any other housing, historic designation or neighborhood issue you would like to discuss.
The public is encouraged to attend any or each of these after-hours opportunities to interact with City staff. There are no formal agendas, just a chance to interact and share thoughts, concerns and ideas. All are welcome.
