(WASHINGTON CO.) - A Salem man was arrested Wednesday morning after an Indiana state trooper found several large marijuana plants.

According to Indiana State Police report, Trooper Travis Baker stopped a gold Honda minivan on State Road 56 West near the bypass after noticing it had an expired license plate.

While talking to the driver, 43-year-old George Napier of Salem, the trooper smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the van.

Baker looked through the window and saw several large marijuana plants in the floor of the van.

Trooper Baker then detained Napier and searched the van finding 11 freshly picked marijuana plants.

Napier was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail on felony charges of possession of marijuana over 30 grams and maintaining a common nuisance.
