(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured after a semi driver passed out and crashed into a vehicle at the intersection of Old U.S. 50 East and Standish Steel Road.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 62-year-old Christopher Chastain of Bedford, who was driving a 2000 Mack semi for Standish Steel, passed out and could not remember what happened.
The semi drove through the stop sign and ran over the front of a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo driven by 70-year-old Jeannie Harris of Bedford.
Harris told police that the semi came right towards her, disregarded the stop sign and she couldn't avoid the collision.
Police say Chastain was at fault in the accident. He suffered bleeding to his arm and elbow area.
Harris complained of chest pain following the collision.
Assisting at the scene was a Seals and IU Health Hospital ambulance crews, Shawswick and Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Bedford Fire Department extrication unit responded.
