(BLOOMINGTON) - Volunteers are needed for Monroe Lake shoreline cleanup, Sunday, Sept. 11.
The cleanup starts at 1:30 p.m. It will target harder-to-reach areas where trash accumulates from waves and flooding. Boats provided by the Lake Monroe Marina are used to transport volunteers and trash.
A free cookout for volunteers will take place after the cleanup. Volunteers also will be entered for a prize drawing, sponsored by J.L. Waters and Co., an outdoors store in Bloomington.
Advance registration is required by Sept. 8 for all volunteers at bit.ly/monroecleanup2016. The registration link also includes additional information.
Volunteers must be at least 10 years old.
The annual cleanup is coordinated by Monroe Lake, Monroe County Stormwater Services and Hoosier National Forest, with assistance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
