(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County Police detectives are investigating an incident where a woman was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors while lying on a couch.
According to police the woman was stabbed Monday night.
A Monroe County deputy later arrested 29-year-old Crystal Afanador during a traffic stop at Ketcham Road and Old Ind. 37 South.
The 28-year-old female victim called 911 at 10:47 p.m. to report she had been stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors and was having trouble breathing.
Emergency crews found the woman lying on the ground at a mobile home at 315 W. Gordon Pike.
Police say the victim's boyfriend and Afanador's husband were in a back bedroom, playing darts, at the time of the incident.
Investigators found the scissors they say were used in the attack between a couch and a foot stool in the living room.
Afanador told police she stabbed the woman in self defense, after she alleges the victim had struck her in the head.
Afanador was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated battery and booked into the Monroe County Jail. Her bond was set at $15,000 surety, $500 cash.
