(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was injured after a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 50 East, near Back Creek Road Sunday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 45-year-old Iva M. Chatten of Bedford suffered internal head injuries and was taken to the hospital and then flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
According to police, dispatchers received a call that a woman, who police say was Chatten, was standing in the road on U.S. 50 about a mile east of State Road 446. The caller reported the woman was waving her arms, but the caller didn't stop. An officer responded to the area.
Then at 5:31 a.m., dispatchers received a call from the Brownstown Police Department saying a man had given the woman a ride and he was taking her to an ambulance station in Brownstown.
Lawrence County police later learned that Chatten was going to be airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Officers later located Chatten's vehicle, a 2005 Toyota RAV4, off the north side of the road on U.S. 50. It had gone about 450 feet before coming to rest on its side against a tree.
