(SPRINGVILLE) - A house and a barn were destroyed in a fire Tuesday morning on Springville-Judah Road.
According to Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Max Peters, no one lived in the home.
The cause for the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
Firefighters from Perry and Marshall, Oolitic and Indian Creek VFD were alerted to the blaze at 2:18 a.m., after a resident who lived in a home at 3159 Springville-Judah Road reported the house nearby was on fire.
When firefighters arrived, the entire backside of the home was engulfed in flames.
Peters says no one lived in the older home for about 2 years.
The fire spread to a metal pole barn about 10 to 15 feet from the home.
Both the home and barn were destroyed.
Firefighters were able to save a larger home next door.
Assisting at the scene was an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew and TOPES.
