(PRAIRIE CREEK) - A fish kill at Prairie Creek in Daviess County is being investigated.
On Tuesday the Indiana Department of Environmental Management was notified of the kill in a 12 mile stretch of the south fork of the creek.
IDEM and the Department of Natural Resources discovered that the water tested high for ammonia nitrogen which likely resulted in the incident.
This is an ongoing investigation, but IDEM has located the source of the discharge and are working with a potentially responsible party to find the source of the released substance.
Officials have not released the number of fish that have been killed.
